Make Fall Getaway Planning Easy With These Stunning Mountain Hotels

Fall getaways often mean it’s time for mountain air, and lots of it. This year, take the pressure off and enjoy your trip by booking a getaway to one of these special hotels, each offering its own spin on what it means to be a pioneer.

Alpine Falls Ranch

Superior, MT

Tucked amongst the historic, well-preserved Bitterroot Mountains sits Alpine Falls Ranch, a sanctuary for the adventure lover. Miles of nearby trails for hiking and mountain biking invite exploration, world-class fly-fishing locations draw anglers near and far, and the dramatic vistas provide a breathtaking backdrop to this idyllic retreat.

Accommodations are as varied as the guests that stay, from charming rustic cabins to the grand Mountain Mansion, complete with a movie theater and private gym. There are even luxury glamping tents at your disposal. The heart of this haven is the Six8 Saloon, adorned in authentic Western décor, which serves drinks and pre-scheduled meals for hotel guests beside entertainment offerings like a pool table. If you get a chance, head over to the barn, where adorable mini donkeys Cappuccino and Fiona are sure to make it much harder to leave.

Elevation Hotel & Spa

Crested Butte, CO

With its coveted ski-in/ski-out status and plenty of places to relax, Elevation Hotel & Spa is a wonderfully low-key place to stay in Colorado if you’re looking for all of the amenities you’d find at a larger resort. Just at the base of Mt. Crested Butte, this place has everything, from an indoor pool, to outdoor hot tubs, to a spa offering all kinds of different treatments. Tequila and tacos are on offer at the slope-side restaurant, José Crested Butte, although if you’d rather just have a drink you can head to Billy Barr for a cocktail (or maybe just a coffee). The rooms are modern and spacious, and each has a mini fridge and kitchenette for late-night snacking. If you’re looking for a cool place to hang out, we suggest the Matchstick Production Lounge—it has a pool table, darts, and plenty of other things to keep you entertained.

Limelight Hotel Ketchum

Ketchum, ID

Considered one of the foremost hotels in the famed mountain region of Sun Valley, Idaho, Limelight Hotel Ketchum is a great place to vacation no matter the season. Minimal, contemporary decor provides a welcome sense of relaxation after a long day exploring the natural splendor of the mountain. On-site bike rentals are available, so you’ll have an easy time getting around on-road and off. There are plenty of places to reconnect with loved ones on-site after a long day amongst the trees or on the slopes, including The Lounge and an outdoor pool and hot-tub.

Field Guide Lodge

Stowe, VT

In the heart of picturesque Stowe, Field Guide Lodge is a great place to go when you want to be away from everything but still have plenty to do. Each room is delightfully appointed in a Scandinavian-influenced ski lodge style, and some even come with their own entrances for ultimate privacy. The bar and tasting room, Après Only, serves up local IPAs alongside snacks like Bavarian pretzels. There’s also plenty to do in the area, from the storybook town to skiing and golfing just a few miles away. If you’re considering a vacation to Stowe, we can’t recommend it enough.

Bluebird Hunter Lodge

Hunter, NY

Inspired by the ski lodges of the 1970s, Bluebird Hunter Lodge is the ideal place to explore the beauty of the Catskills, or just escape from nearby NYC. Just under Hunter Mountain, there’s almost an endless amount of nature to uncover here, with almost 20 hiking trails on the mountain alone, and a number of local hikes as well. Some rooms offer mountain views, while others offer full kitchens and private balconies. Others still offer bunk beds, for the ultimate version of your childhood sleepovers. Whichever room you choose, you’ll love ending your days at the on-site restaurant, Hunter Tavern.
