Matthew Kogo ā€œwrestlesā€ a 17-foot Burmese python in the Florida Everglades in a recent Instagram video on his public profile (@pythonswampman). Though he offers some ā€œtips and tricksā€ for tangling with a snake this large, the trapper also advises followers not to try this at home. Unless, maybe, you live in south Florida.

Officials with Yellowstone National Park say a park ranger was injured and a suspect was killed during a shooting inside the park. According to an announcement, the incident happened overnight before the morning of July 4. Rangers responded to a report about a person with a firearm making threats at Canyon Village, a lodging area inside the park.

Organizers behind an effort to ban mountain lion hunting in Colorado say they've delivered enough signatures to get the issue on the ballot for the November election. According to Wednesday's announcement, the state group Cats Aren't Trophies delivered 188,000 voter signatures ā€” nearly 64,000 more than what's required ā€” supporting the ballot initiative to the Secretary of State.

A family in Pagosa Springs, Colorado had a shock last week. They came outside to enjoy their back deck and heard ā€œhuffing and moaningā€ sounds coming from under the house. The family called Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) for help, thinking an injured animal may have sought refuge there. Turns out, it was a 400-pound bear.

Over 300 feral cats were killed in New Zealand during a hunting competition last weekend. According to Unilad, the North Canterbury Hunting Challenge calls on hunters to target feral cats, which are known to prey upon local wildlife.
